Everything We Know About Dolly Parton’s Final Design Projects, Including a Very Pink Hotel

Through her lyrics, movies, and charities, Dolly Parton touched millions of lives over her six-decade-long career. The pop culture icon rose to fame as a country music singer, securing a whopping 26 number one singles—an impressive feat in the male-dominated genre. Parton, who died at age 80, was preparing for the grand opening of her two most personal projects yet: the music-themed SongTeller Hotel right in the heart of Nashville (her home state and the country music capital of the world) and the on-site Life of Many Colors Museum, a resplendent showcase of her life and work.

She officially unveiled plans for the property in June 2024, during a special appearance at the CMA Fest in Nashville. The project is set to open in just a few weeks, with the first guests slated to arrive in early September. Parton had a heavy hand in the property’s design, with her signature pink coating walls, couches, and duvets.

Revisiting the path of her life was a running theme in Parton’s final years. In addition to her projects in Nashville, the ever-busy songstress was preparing for the premiere of DOLLY: A True Original Musical, a Broadway show tracing her humble beginnings in the Smoky Mountains to the pinnacle of stardom. As of now, the play is set to take the stage at New York’s St. James Theatre in December and will feature her greatest hits, “I Will Always Love You,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5,” alongside new songs penned by Parton.
