Best Crate & Barrel Sofa Overall

Avondale Sectional Sofa

Pros

  • Available in more than 250 fabric options
  • Multiple configuration options
  • White glove delivery included in shipping cost

Cons

  • Custom fabrics may take up to eight weeks to ship

The Avondale chaise sofa is the perfect find if you are in the market for a sectional that doesn't require you to commit to a left- or right-facing configuration. In fact, tester Jessica Cherner bought this when she moved into her New York City apartment. “I wanted to invest in a good-quality sectional that I could have for a while, but I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a piece I'd have now that wouldn't work in a future apartment. The Crate & Barrel designer who helped me shop introduced me to the Avondale, and I bought it almost immediately,” she says. “You can put the chaise on either side, so there's no need to worry about whether or not you can use the sectional in a future home. Plus, it's just so cozy.” It's also available in more than 250 fabric options, so you are bound to find a texture and color that suit your space and style. “I love the look of a navy sofa, but while I wanted a velvet, my husband was leaning more towards a twill, so we compromised and went with navy chenille, which looks like twill and feels like velvet,” Cherner adds.

Best Crate & Barrel Movie Night Sofa

Lounge Queen Trundle Sleeper Sofa

Pros

  • Hardwood frame is kiln-dried to prevent warping
  • In-home delivery included in shipping price
  • Disguised trundle creates queen-sized bed

Cons

  • Cushions can be a bit firm

Deputy Managing Editor Sarah Esgro’s Crate & Barrel sofa was an early-pandemic purchase that held up to the test of time. Not only are there always hundreds of sofa options at Crate & Barrel, but most of them are customizable, from wood finish to cushion fill and more. “The couch easily fits three people (whereas our old one could only fit two) and we could transform it into a queen-size bed that allowed us to all pile in with blankets and pillows and cozily watch movies since there was little else to do at the time,” she explains. “It’s easy to convert into a bed and quite comfortable to sleep on in either configuration.”

Best Crate & Barrel Slipcovered Sofa

Revive Slipcovered Sofa

Revive Slipcovered Sofa

Pros

  • Machine-washable slipcover that's made of recycled materials
  • Cushions are sink-in soft and made with recycled water bottles (and foam)
  • Easily assembles and disassembles for flexibility and recycling at end of use

Cons

  • Available in only one color

Anyone with an affinity for either a cottagecore or a coastal aesthetic will appreciate a slipcovered sofa because there's something very easy and laid-back about it. Sadly, there’s only one color option on offer—seashell—but personally, we are very into it. There's no need to worry about getting it dirty because if, for whatever reason, you notice spots or dirt, just take off the cover and pop it in the washing machine. Moreover, environmental warriors will love this sofa because the slipcovers are made using 100 percent recycled polyester fabric. The cushioning is also quite sustainable; it's made of a soft-yet-supportive seat cushion, high-resiliency foam, and recycled water bottles.

Best Crate & Barrel Sleeper Sofa

Barrett II Sleeper Sofa

Best Crate & Barrel Sleeper Sofa

Barrett II Sleeper Sofa

Pros

  • Sectional upgrade available
  • Comes in three mattress sizes and sofa four widths
  • Mattress is gel-infused memory foam

Cons

  • Only two in-stock fabric options

At first glance, this looks like a typical two-seater sofa. However, upon closer inspection, you may realize it's a sleeper sofa with a five-inch-thick gel-infused memory foam mattress that's wrapped in four-way stretch microfiber. Get it in twin, full, or queen sizes and almost 240 fabric options. We love the look of a rich, earthy-toned microfiber, like the one pictured (dubbed Brandy). If you, too, like this shade, be prepared to wait a few weeks for it to ship. Don't have that kind of time? Opt for either in-stock fabrics, including a desert-colored chenille and a gray textured weave.

Unwind Modular 3-Piece Slipcovered Sectional Sofa with Chaise Lounge

Pros

  • Linen-viscose slipcover feels natural yet breezy
  • Assembly included with delivery
  • Comes with two throw pillows

Cons

  • Removable slipcover is dry clean only

We couldn't include only one slipcovered couch on our top Crate & Barrel pieces list. This one is also entirely modular, meaning you can arrange these three pieces into whatever configuration works in your space. This sectional comes in five different colors of linen, so feel free to order whichever works best in your space. The best element of this sectional has nothing to do with how it looks, though. It's all about comfort, which comes in the form of very pillowy cushions. They're a polyfiber and feather blend encased in downproof ticking, so if you've ever sat on a cloud couch, this will feel very similar.

Best Curved Crate & Barrel Sofa

Salon Sofa by Laura Harrier and Tiffany Howell

Salon Sofa by Laura Harrier and Tiffany Howell

Pros

  • Unique curved frame still has plenty of room to stretch out
  • FSC-certified hardwood frame
  • Curved armrests cradle your back

Cons

  • No storage clearance underneath

Laura Harrier and Tiffany Howell’s collab brought an Old-Hollywood glamour to Crate & Barrel, and this curved sofa is no exception. True to its name, it looks like a piece you’d dramatically drape yourself across for stimulating conversation in a salon room. It’s available in three different colors of sumptuous velvet, and the backrest has a sloped curve that adds flair to your space beyond the typical track-arm frame. The kidney bean-shaped bench seat is encased in feathers for an inviting sit.

Best Luxury Crate & Barrel Sofa

The Malibu Sofa by Brigette Romanek

The Malibu Sofa by Brigette Romanek

Pros

  • Chenille fabric is great for pets
  • Curved bolster pillow frame softens your space
  • Wood grain adds striking contrast

Cons

  • Needs frequent fluffing

In the same way that contrasting piping can add a bold border to bedsheets, the white oak frame is striking on this sofa. It’s only available in one fabric, but we love the chocolate brown chenille that star designer Brigitte Romanek chose. It’s moody without feeling dull, and the back and armrests resemble a bolster pillow for extra support. At just over seven feet wide, it’s a great fit for smaller spaces that can’t accommodate a sectional.

Best Outdoor Crate & Barrel Sofa

The Hartford Wood Outdoor Sofa by Jake Arnold

The Hartford Wood Outdoor Sofa by Jake Arnold

Pros

  • Water-repellent and fade-resistant upholstery
  • True wood grain instead of fake wicker
  • Diamond lattice is beautiful at every turn

Cons

  • Only available in one fabric

Your outdoor sofa needs to be extra durable to hold up to the elements over the years, but that doesn’t mean it has to look cold and industrial. Jake Arnold’s Crate & Barrel collab included this relaxed outdoor sofa. The frame is made from teak wood that’s naturally moisture-wicking, with a diamond lattice pattern that wraps around the back. And though the seats look cushy, they’re still built for the outdoors; a textilene panel underneath the bench cushion promotes drainage and prevents mildew buildup.
