The royal residence of Buckingham Palace is known for having a regal opulence and for oozing traditionally grand interiors that showcase the fine art, sculptures and precious gifts and artefacts owned by the Royal Estate.
It's part of the reason why so many people treasure it because it represents the sacred world of the Crown which is unlike any other. The Palace is currently undergoing a £369 million refurbishment, focusing on the electrical cabling, plumbing and heating, which will be finished in 2027. Until then, over 3,000 items from the Royal Collection has been moved or put into storage.
But what about the interiors – will they get an update too? And what would the public and, more importantly, Her Majesty the Queen, think if Buckingham Palace got a modern makeover?
Property developer David Wilson Homes has done exactly that, producing digital graphics of what one of the best-known rooms in the Palace, the White Drawing Room, would look like if the traditional interiors were swapped for Art Deco, Scandi or botanical themes.
