Mylands has announced FTT-006™, a joyful and lively hot pink, as its Colour of the Year for 2023.
Made from a strong mix of red and magenta, it's a punchy, uplifting hue with dramatic energy and plenty of character.
From fashion to interiors, there's been a sharp increase in hot pink hues, largely attributed to the recent rise of Barbiecore. This playful, captivating colour can be used to create a vibrant backdrop that feels comforting and nostalgic – it's a shade that's bound to bring happiness and fresh energy into the home.
Dominic Myland says: 'FTT-006™ is an unfailingly cheerful and bold pink that’s proving not only to be incredibly popular, but also more enduring than just another trend or fad. It’s a confident shade with the power to completely transform a space, and its intensity makes it hard to forget. Hot pink is playful and eye-catching, and though it’s the colour of the moment, it’s a stylish shade you won’t get tired of any time soon.'
While FTT-006™ is slightly darker and less feminine than more pastel pink colours, it pairs well with soft neutrals for a toned down scheme, or you can pair it with soft pink or lilac, or crisp white for a sharp contrast.
And, if painting all four walls seems a bit too intimidating, focus on the colours accenting the room, like a bold pink skirting, doorway, or a piece of furniture for dramatic contrast.
