'Messy coquette' and 'literary girl' don’t sound like interior aesthetics? It’s time to broaden your horizons, as Etsy has just released its trend predictions for the season ahead.
The pursuit of personality in how we dress ourselves and our homes has changed the way we think about trends. It's not just trend cycles anymore (currently experiencing a comeback are brutalism and Art Deco) but oddly specific 'cores', which sprout year-round like well-watered buds in the spring. Now, cottagecore, gardencore and hostingcore determine and reflect the myriad ways people make themselves at home.
Personality-based trends may facilitate finding an aesthetic you resonate with, but their high volume can also make it difficult to keep abreast of what's hot and what's not; by the time you've read about one trend, a new one has already taken hold.
'Spring/Summer 2025 is all about embracing creativity in a way that's both intentional and unapologetically you,' says Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy's trend expert. '[This is] more than just a prediction – it's a movement, powered by creativity, individuality, and the stories behind each item.'

London’s literary scene has recently gotten a facelift; book clubs are booming and 'blind book dates' are going viral. Meanwhile, Etsy reports nearly 20,000 book-related purchases every day, concluding, 'Reading is more than just a hobby – it’s a lifestyle.'
In the interior space, the 'literary girl' aesthetic manifests through vintage tomes, cosy armchairs for reading and personal libraries (think bookshelf wealth), but also reading-related paraphernalia, like the 'smells like she's reading again' candle.
This hyper-feminine aesthetic requires you to really think pink. Building on last year's 'coquette' aesthetic, 'messy coquette' blends 90s glamour with Y2K pop stardom. It’s both a blast from the past and a modern celebration of all things girly.
With pink hues, ruffles and ribbons, this trend has the potential to overpower everything else in your home. Incorporate the look with a few carefully selected items: a ruffled cushion here, a pastel pink throw there. Add curtains and bedsheets if you're feeling extra brave.
Can you guess what big TV drama we have this trend to thank for? 'Island luxe' has The White Lotus written all over it, and now that season three has wrapped up, we could use a little pick-me-up to fill the Aimee Lou Wood-shaped hole in our hearts.
Sun chasers can channel beach vibes with tropical candles, tiki-inspired fruit bowls and breezy linens. For the ultimate holiday resort feeling, add a hammock and let yourself be transported to warmer climes.
This one's for stargazers and the spiritually-minded. Zodiac-inspired edits and predictions are enjoying great popularity (check out our top homeware picks every Taurus should have) – Etsy reports a 400 per cent increase in searches for zodiac jewellery and a 700 per cent increase for half-moon lamps.
If the last Mercury in retrograde gave you a particularly hard time, why not turn your home into a spiritual oasis that lets you forget all about it? Metallic hues and holographic textures set the tone and crystal glassware and cosmos-inspired decor complete the look. And don't forget healing crystals and precious stones.

The humble cottagecore is succeeded by the glamorous 'châteaucore'. After all, your home is your castle. According to Etsy, the two 'cores' are actually related: 'France cottage decor is one of the top-searched terms on Etsy this year, up over 26,000 per cent,’ the marketplace reports.
To create the old-world look at home, opt for embroidered textiles, vintage glassware, time-worn floral ceramics and a touch of gold.
We've been seeing ocean-inspired homeware just about everywhere recently, so it's unsurprising that it's made Etsy's SS25 trend report. In fact, few interior styles capture summer quite like the maritime aesthetic.
Turn your home into a quaint seaside town with plenty of stripes, sardine prints (oysters, prawns and lobster are viable options as well) and, of course, anything scalloped-edged. For a less literal approach, think rattan furniture, sisal or jute carpets, white and blue hues and wood accents. Can you smell the salty air yet?
