Timepiece is Graham & Brown's Wallpaper of the Year 2021.
As its name suggests, the design is the result of piecing together fragments of the Graham & Brown archive, presenting an amalgamation of prints dating from 1946 to the present day.
Described as opulent, glamorous, and indulgent, Timepiece is reminiscent of the lavish blooms and tangled stems of Dutch flower painting.
The rich, jewel-toned colour palette is enlivened with flashes of sunlit petals and vividly striped tulips, while hyacinth florets offer a textural juxtaposition to the large-scale arrangements featuring elegant magnolia blooms.
One of the archive patterns is 'Original'; the very first wallpaper produced at the Graham & Brown Blackburn factory in 1946. The Art Deco structure of this pattern forms the geometric framework of Timepiece. Layers of floral designs are woven into this to produce a design that reflects upon the aesthetics of the past to inform the designs of the future.
Timepiece has got an illustrious finish so will reflect light well in the home, and it perfectly complements Graham & Brown's Colour of the Year 2021, Epoch, a rich plum shade. In addition to the Amethyst colourway, Timepiece is also available in Moonstone and Midnight.
And, for the first time, Graham & Brown have unveiled a Mural of the Year, too. Developed alongside the Wallpaper of the Year, Timepiece can be produced as a made-to-measure bespoke mural, highlighting just how far wall covering production has developed from the fixed repeat surface print machines of 1946. A mural works as a large scale piece of art like a feature wall and is great for making a statement in the home.

Graham & Brown's Wallpaper of the Year 2020 was Bloomsbury Neo Mint, a floral design with a pastel green backdrop referencing 18th century neoclassical interiors.
