  • For the past three years, Sherwin-Williams has released a “Loneliest Color” of the year, highlighting the least-tinted hues from its extensive color collection.
  • The choice for 2026 is a bold, citrusy hue called Offbeat Green.
  • Selected in partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation, Offbeat Green symbolizes confidence and individuality.

Sherwin-Williams is tugging at our heartstrings, flipping the script on the “color of the year” designation. The annual title, adopted by almost every major paint supplier, typically highlights a shade that embodies the hopeful energy of the year to come. For the past three years, Sherwin-Williams has breathed new life into the concept by giving its “loneliest” color a moment in the limelight. The title is given to the least tinted shade, and generally doesn’t fully reflect consumer interest.

This year, the shade is an earthy citrus tone—say hello to Offbeat Green. This lime green hue packs a punch. It’s underscored by yellow tones, giving it an almost olive essence.

“Offbeat Green SW 6706 is a bold yet grounded expression of individuality that reflects how people want to live today. It balances brightness with warmth in a way that feels both fresh and livable,” says Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, in a press release. The campaign typically aims to channel a positive theme, and this year’s focuses on championing confidence through originality. Sherwin-Williams partnered with the LeBron James Family Foundation to select the boldest, yet most overlooked, hue.

“In everything we do as a Foundation, we want to create opportunities and open doors so our kids and families know that nothing is beyond their reach. The Loneliest Color campaign brings that to life perfectly with Offbeat Green representing something overlooked that still has incredible potential,” says LeBron James in the campaign’s press release. “It's all about helping people move forward with confidence."

The title is doing more than gathering social impressions. Together, Sherwin-Williams and the LeBron James Family Foundation are putting the color into action and at the center of attention. The company has released specially designed, limited-edition can labels for those bold enough to bring the shade to their projects, and the pair have joined efforts to support the PROMISE Project, a homeowner education center aimed at supporting first-time buyers in the area. In a nod to their support, the front door of the center is coated in Offbeat Green to reflect and foster confidence.

Offbeat Green joins the ranks alongside last year’s pick, Radiant Lilac, and the inaugural hue, Kingdom Gold, continuing to inspire “creative expression through unconventional colors,” says Wadden. The initiative was founded in the hopes of fostering and fueling a “more exciting visual culture.”
