Drew Scott, best known for costarring on Property Brothers, made a one-episode guest appearance on the show Murdoch Mysteries.
When he was approached, he eagerly accepted the role, saying yes before the offer was even finished.
Scott said the experience reignited his love of acting.
Drew Scott is no stranger to being on-screen. After all, the Property Brothers star has spent nearly 20 years on HGTV alongside his twin brother Jonathan. But he recently appeared in a different type of role, guest-starring on the show Murdoch Mysteries for a one-episode run.
Scott played New Yorker Cecil Winchester in his cameo, joining the cast of Canada’s longest-running hour-long scripted drama to close out its 19th season. When approached about the opportunity, he could not have agreed faster. “I said yes before they finished the sentence!” he wrote in the caption of his Instagram post commemorating the experience.
The crime drama has been on the screen since 2008, originally airing on CityTV. The title joined the ranks at CBC in 2013, as the show embarked on its sixth season. Based on the Detective Murdoch series of novels by Maureen Jennings, the plot follows detective William Murdoch working the Toronto’s ‘90s murder beat, solving cases with newly emerging forensic technology.
Though the series marks its season finale with Scott’s appearance, there are no official renewal plans in the works, yet. But, it sounds like Scott would be open to becoming a regular, signing off his post on a reminiscent note: “This role pushed me in ways I didn't expect and reminded me why I fell in love with acting in the first place. Thank you to the cast and crew who made me feel at home from day one.”
While the status of his role remains ambiguous, we know one thing for sure: we wouldn’t mind seeing more of Drew on our screens.
