Dave and Jenny Marrs have left their cozy Arkansas farm for the Tuscan sun. The HGTV couple may be embracing coastal life this week, but they aren’t on vacation. The Marrs find themselves back in Tuscany to take on a “secret project.”
Jenny took to her Instagram story to share a shot of her husband as they dined in the seaside town of Forte dei Marmi, in Tuscany. Famously known for its upscale tourism scene, the town is steeped in exclusivity and brimming with luxury offerings from bustling beach clubs to private cabanas, Michelin-star dining, and the weekly Market in Forte, a hot spot for shoes, lingerie, and cashmere—turns out that Emily in Paris plot line was anything but exaggerated.
In her posts, Jenny also shared snaps of marble slabs and a mock-up of the kitchen design she’s dreamt up for the project.
Ever luxurious, marble is an unsurprising material choice for this specific project, given the region the Marrs are frequenting. Forte dei Marmi quite literally translates to “Fort of the Marbles.” The coastal region has a rich history of selling veined slabs from the Apuan Alps, famously home to the Carrara quarries. The site that has been extracting white marble slabs for over two millennia, a favored material by none other than Renaissance genius Michelangelo himself.
House Beautiful had the opportunity to showcase the couple’s first Italian fixer-upper, Campo Sasso, a renovation so storied that HGTV launched a six-episode spin-off series following the restoration of the 300-year-old villa. Similarly, the project also featured Carrara marble, alongside another Italian design hallmark, terra-cotta, which the Marrses incorporated into tiles, vases, and bathtubs.
Jenny has confirmed that the pair will not be unveiling the “pinch-me” project on this season of their HGTV hit, so it looks like we’ll have to stay tuned to her Insta stories to catch glimpses of the renovation—and the dreamy coastal town it calls home.
