Senior Commerce Editor Marina Liao and I tested Hommey bedding in our homes for weeks. We wanted to see if it was worth the viral (and visual) hype, so we evaluated its comfort, how easy it was to care for, and of course, how the style looked on our beds. After hours of sleeping on Hommey’s cotton and linen bedding, we have thoughts. This ultra-customizable brand certainly wins aesthetic points, but how do they actually feel? Read on to find out.

Bottom line: It’s comfortable, breathable, and too cute to resist. The natural feel of the linen is pronounced, but the cotton has a sateen weave for a smoother feel. These sheets are great to use year-round, and instantly level up your bedroom design.
Hommey Cotton Sheets Review
These are my perfect all-purpose sheets. It’s not for your hottest days or your coldest nights, but for all of the days that fall in between. It’s a sturdy, well-woven 100 percent organic cotton, designed for year-round use and reliable comfort. It has a crisp feel that maintains its shape, and it rarely wrinkles, even after I’ve spent all night tossing and turning. I’m also a hot sleeper, and any thread count above 400 TC starts to get a bit stuffy for my taste. These fall at a perfect 300 TC, thick enough to insulate from cool air.
The colors and patterns are what truly won me over. I can’t stand boring white sheets and want my bedroom to be an explosion of color. Each piece (the top sheet, fitted sheet, duvet, and pillowcases) is sold separately, so you can mix and match. And the colorways are gorgeous: vibrant solid colors and thin minimalist stripes that add subtle texture to your space. Stick to a color palette or pick something different for each layer; you can’t go wrong. I opted for the Mist top sheet (blue with brown stripes) and the Chocolate fitted sheet (brown with blue stripes). This is the first time my flat and fitted have ever differed, and I love the layering effect. They feel reflective of my personality, and I wanted to buy three more sets so I could swap them out with the seasons.
Normally, my skin and hair don’t react well to crisp cotton pillowcases, and I have to stick to silk. But this fabric is gentle enough that I don’t break out or wake up with frizzy hair. Also, the hidden zippered closure on the pillowcases is a complete game-changer. It’s spacious enough to hold my thick cooling pillows in place, so they don’t slide out in the middle of the night. Why isn’t every pillowcase like this?
Pros and Cons of Hommey Cotton Sheets
Hommey’s cotton bedding provides luxury without the pretension. I feel like I can collapse into it at the end of the day and launder it when I’m lazy. They feel like chic, grown-up sheets but meet me where I am on my messiest day.

Senior Commerce Editor Marina Liao has been wanting to try Hommey’s sheets ever since the brand popped up on her Instagram feed. The reversible striped duvet covers caught her eye first.
“After sleeping with this 100 percent reversible duvet cover for weeks, it’s now my FAVORITE out of the six covers I own: it feels super soft and smooth to the touch, barely wrinkles after the dryer, and though I wasn’t expecting it to regulate my temperature, the sateen technique Hommey used on this duvet cover makes it breathable,” Liao says. “I never have to kick it off or stick my feet out to cool down in the middle of the night. I also love that the duvet cover zips up instead of having buttons or ties, so my duvet insert itself isn't spilling out of the gaps.”
“I tested Hommey’s cotton duvet cover with my wool and down feather duvet inserts to see if I would overheat with the latter, but shockingly, I slept quite comfortably. Usually my down duvet, which I reserve for winter, makes me feel hot if I put the insert into anything but bamboo or linen duvet covers. It did just fine with the cotton! I’ll also add that I stuffed my King-size down duvet insert into this Queen cover and everything fits and looks great still (as you can see in the photos). I’ll be using this duvet cover year-round, and it has become the most versatile, breathable, IG-worthy cover I own.”

“I fell in love with their striped duvet covers first because the aesthetics reminded me of Danish bedding (colorful, plus a not-so-serious minimalist vibe) and I feel like you can’t get Hommey’s color combos anywhere else,” Liao says.

Hommey Linen Bedding Review
As a fan of linen sheets, Liao is prepared for the slightly prickly, natural feel they tend to have. If you prefer a silky feeling, you will want to opt for a different sheet set.
“I love sleeping on linen sheets, so I was excited to try Hommey’s new ones. I got the dark brown piping with sky blue combo for contrast: it looks soft and dreamy in real life,” Liao says. “After washing the duvet cover and sheets (shedding is minimal), I slept on them the same night. They’re rougher and more prickly than Parachute and Brooklinen linen sheets (maybe even Quince: I have a lot of linen sheets), but since I wear long-sleeve pajamas to bed I don’t mind the texture. I think eventually these will soften after a lot of washes! The linen sheets also feel thick vs. a light breezy material, so if you’re a hot sleeper these will not feel as cooling.”

“While these aren’t the softest linen sheets nor the most ‘cooling,’ they look really nice on my bed,” Liao says. “That said, I still prefer their cotton duvet and sheets, which are softer, smoother, and breathable!”

Cleaning and Care
Hommey sheets are high-quality, without feeling delicate or too high-maintenance. Whether you opt for the cotton or linen bedding, most of the care advice is the same: treat it gently, and it’ll treat you the same way. Machine wash them on a warm cycle, and wash separately from other heavy fabrics like towels and jeans. Both the cotton and linen actually benefit from a first wash before you use them; it helps break in and soften the fibers. Don’t use bleach and avoid tumble drying or dry cleaning. And if you’re really anti-wrinkle, use a cool iron only.
Here’s where the advice differs: if you have cotton sheets, you technically can use a dryer, just don’t over-dry them to prevent lint build-up. According to the brand, linen should always be air-dried, but it is up to your discretion. “I actually tumble-dried my linen sheets on low, and they came out totally fine and did not shrink,” Liao says. “I’ve done it twice now, so make of this what you will!”
Is Hommey Bedding Worth Buying?
Yes! This is the housewarming bedding gift. It belongs on every wedding registry. Unless you know you (or your giftee) LOVES the feel of linen sheets, opt for the crowd-pleasing cotton, with a breathable sateen weave.
