Ikea has unveiled its brand-new 44-piece 2026 PS Collection designed to bring both fun and function to your space: think inflatable chairs, flexible lamps, and vases with ‘ears.’
First launched in 1995 at the Milan furniture fair, the Ikea PS collection was created to challenge the design world's exclusivity by making modern Scandinavian design accessible to everyone. Over the years, the range has included products that have since become firm design favourites, from the 1995 clock through to the Maskros pendant lamp from 2009.
Now in its 10th iteration – and the first re-release since 2017 – the latest collection has been thoughtfully developed by a team of 12 designers, each working from an open brief to experiment with the theme of ‘playful functionality’.
The range is packed with colourful multifunctional furniture, ideal for small spaces and personality-filled homes.
One highlight is the inflatable chair by Mikael Axelsson – a nod to the popular 90s trend. Unlike its predecessors, the seat features a sturdy metal frame and a textile cover that eliminates squeaking. Plus, assembly is simple – just press on the foot pump.
For those looking for clever task lighting, the flexible floor uplighter by Lex Pott ‘bends’, depending on how you reconnect the pieces. Available in butter yellow, burgundy, and cobalt blue, the contemporary design will add a modern edge to any home office.
Sofa beds that deliver on both style and practicality can be hard to find – but this sofa bed brings the two together perfectly. At first glance, this piece appears to be a solid pine statement sofa, but it really hides a comforting bed built with pocket springs and a foam of mattress.
We also love the whimsical decor by Maria Vinka – the hand-blown glass vases with ‘ears’ will add quirky personality. Fill them with plants and blooms, or simply place them by themselves on the dining table for a vibrant conversation starter.
Other pieces in the collection include rugs and cushion covers with ‘blooming ink’ patterns, bedside tables that hide cables, and a rocking bench.
