With 2024 just around the corner, trend experts and paint brands have been releasing their top shades for the year ahead. There's a variety of shades to explore, from the bold to the more pared-back.
From Pantone's serene Peach Fuzz to Benjamin Moore's sumptuous Blue Nova 825, 2024 is seeing a move away from Barbiecore pinks. But, if you're not ready to say goodbye to the trend just yet, you'll be pleased to know that earthy, rich berry shades will remain popular. For fans of an understated interior, Dulux's Colour of the Year 2024 is a delicate shade, Sweet Embrace, and Earthborn's is Hopscotch – the ultimate versatile neutral.

Cosy and serene, Pantone's Colour of the Year 2024 is Peach Fuzz.
'An idea as much as a feeling, Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz awakens our senses to the comforting presence of tactility and cocooned warmth,' says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director at the Pantone Colour Institute.
We think this interior has got the look just right – peachy tones made sunnier with the addition of yellow decor and blue soft furnishings. It's a playful look that still feels sophisticated.

Benjamin Moore's Colour of the Year for 2024 is Blue Nova 825, a mid-tone blue inspired by the night sky and the brilliance of a new star formed in space.
'Blue Nova 825 continues the trend of using use eye-catching colours that hold a true presence, paired with the need to make the home a sanctuary that reflects personal style,' says Helen Shaw, director of marketing (international) at Benjamin Moore. 'To create a complementary scheme, combine with a vibrant terracotta to produce a high contrast and energising look to a room.'
Burnt orange tones are the perfect colour to combine with the rich blue shade, seen here through the addition of soft furnishings. Blue Nova 825 also pairs brilliantly with neutrals such as off-white, grey with lilac undertones and tarnished silver.

2024 will see a shift away from the vibrant Barbiecore pink hues that dominated 2023, to richer, deeper shades. In response, Etsy has named Berry as its Colour of the Year 2024.
'Berry – a shade that blends rich reds and blue tones – can be thought of as a grown-up version of the popular pinks of 2023,' says Dayna Isom Johnson, trend expert at Etsy. 'In fact, we’ve seen hot pink items trending down on Etsy, making room for this more relaxed and undeniably romantic shade.'
Berry can be paired with lighter neutral shades to create contrast and additional visual interest. Or, if you're feeling bold, give colour drenching a go for a dramatic result.
From Little Greene's Baked Cherry to Earthborn's Lady Bug, and Mylands' Huguenot No.49 to Farrow & Ball's Preference Red, there are lots of warm berry paint shades to choose from.

This shade is understated enough to be used in colour drenched interiors without being overwhelming, but would also pair well with more dramatic shades (such as deep blues and greens).

Neutrals are great when used as base layers upon which more colour, pattern and texture can be built. Take this cotton duvet set for example – similar in tone to Sweet Embrace, it can be paired with rich blue colours for contrast, or with patterns (such as stripes and checks), to add extra visual interest.
Graham & Brown's Colour of the Year 2024 is Viridis, a soothing green hue with biophilic qualities.

We think this versatile shade would work well with furniture and decor made from natural materials, such as rattan, cane, linen and wood.
