New research by Rated People found that pink is the most Instagrammed home decor colour for the bedroom, bathroom, playroom, nursery and staircase. Meanwhile, blue was named the most popular for dining rooms and hallways.
'It's well known that Instagram is where some of the most aspirational home interiors can be found, so it’s fascinating to look at the biggest colour trends and discover just how much they influence, or don’t influence, the colour schemes that we’re choosing for our own homes,' says Adrienne Minster, CEO of Rated People.
'It was interesting to see that in reality, most people make safer, neutral colour choices, even though bolder block colours are more popular on Instagram and provide plenty of design inspiration.'

When it comes to bathrooms, the research found that pink was the most popular colour with over 27,000 hashtags. The idea of a feminine, girly room might put you off, but the rise in pink bathrooms shows how it can be incredibly grown-up.
Planning a bedroom refurb? Why not consider tapping into a palette of soft blush pinks. With 39,134 Instagram hashtags, this home decor colour is one of the most trending hues of the moment — and one to have your eye on for 2021.
The most popular colour for a dining room is, unsurprisingly, scene-stealing blue, with more than 1,200 tagged hashtags on Instagram. Are you brave enough to paint your dining room blue? Shades can vary from duck egg to sea blue, usually paired with white and wooden furniture.

With more than 500 hashtags, it seems homeowners aren't afraid when it comes to decorating their entryway. While creating a striking look, blue also adds plenty of style and character.

'With over 50,000 hashtags, green is by far the most popular colour for kitchens. Earthy, subdued green tones feature most often and tend to be paired with white and wooden elements,' explain Rated People.
Pink was found to be one of the most popular colours for a children's nursery. With over 18,000 hashtags, it's a go-to hue for many expectant mothers.
From jewel tones to sea greens, this bold, vibrant hue is a firm favourite with many homeowners.
Those lucky enough to have a playroom for their children are turning to softer shades of blush pink — both for paint and furniture.
'Instagrammers are most likely to have pink playrooms teamed with peach and cream shades for a peaceful and cosy atmosphere.'
Blue might be the most popular colour for a hallway, but pink is the preferred shade when it comes to the stairs. Bold, yes, but oh-so stylish.
