Zooey Deschanel recently posted photos of her cat, Poppy, on her millennial pink living room couch.

Millennial pink defined interiors in the mid-2010s before falling out of favor for Gen Z’s bold, neon hues.

Deschanel’s cozy, all-pink seating setup proves the nostalgic shade still works when done tastefully.

We all have that one beloved piece of decor we’ll never part with, whether or not it’s currently trending. But as far as timeless furniture goes, we try to invest wisely in our couches and not take too many design risks. A couch is often the centerpiece of a room—and Zooey Deschanel’s makes quite the statement.

The New Girl star recently took to Instagram to share a few shots of her cat Poppy, but it’s the millennial pink color of her couch that really steals the spotlight.

Sitting somewhere between bubblegum and cotton candy on the color spectrum, millennial pink was once the darling of the color world. The dusty, muted hue was so popular that Pantone named its version (Rose Quartz) as one of its two Colors of the Year for 2016.

It may be hard to believe now, but seemingly everything during that time was covered in millennial pink—from walls and lampshades to cell phones—creating a monochrome moment where the soft, sandy tone felt impossible to escape. The craze held strong for about five years, until Gen Z’s Y2K revival ushered in bold neons. Still, millennial pink occasionally pops up in tech accessories, bedroom paint colors, and, now, on Zooey Deschanel’s “catio” couch.

Upholstered in a soft, moody pink fabric and paired with a plush checkerboard layer in pink and white, the entire couch setup looks very cozy and catnap-ready. Zooey’s millennial-pink seating definitely feels like a throwback, but it feels perfectly on-brand for her quirky, eclectic style.
