- Drew Scott recently shared a post on Instagram sharing his all-time favorite upgrades he’s made in his own home.
- The HGTV star says the his-and-hers bathroom vanities and statement shelving are the updates that have made the most difference.
- While he enjoys his rooftop deck as well, he warns that outdoor wood spaces require constant maintenance due to weather damage.
From laminate flooring to the butter-yellow debate, Property Brothers stars Drew and Jonathan Scott have never shied away from sharing their design opinions. But they also put their money where their mouth is—after all, you don’t spend more than 15 years transforming homes for an international TV audience without serious talent.
Throughout their careers, Drew and Jonathan have helped an impressive number of homeowners bring their renovation dreams to life. While many design trends come and go, there are a handful Drew believes will always stand the test of time—so much so that he’s incorporated them into his own home and recently showed them off to his fans in a recent Instagram post.
Drew’s all-time favorite home reno he’s made in his own space? Adding his-and-hers vanities to the primary bathroom. This is one project you might want to seriously consider if you and your partner are looking to revamp your bath.
Also tying for first place, statement shelves earned a perfect score on the Drew scale. This clever storage solution is like decor for your decor, adding character and classic charm to your home. You can also score major bonus points if you can incorporate built-in shelving, which is a great way to add display space without having to fit a clunky wall unit or china cabinet into your space.
Next up is the one renovation Scott says he wishes they’d done sooner. The couple swapped out their classic gas stove for an induction range, and the change left Scott practically gushing over how much this kitchen combo improves functionality. Not to mention the addition of a pot filler.
Finally, just like the rest of us, Drew and his wife, Linda, need a quiet place to retreat. Their rooftop deck was the perfect place to unwind and recoup—that is, until the wood started warping. Weathering is the enemy of the outdoor deck. In his around eight years of living at his Los Angeles Tudor, Scott has re-stained and added umbrellas to combat the effects of rain and wind. Cautioning about the extra level of maintenance, Scott only awarded his at-home Shangri-La a 3/10, but not to worry, despite boasting the lowest score, it’s still the couple’s favorite post-bedtime retreat!
