Celebrating Diwali? IKEA has launched its new AROMATISK collection to help you deck your home in colour, light and joy.
Available online and in stores across the UK from 1st September, the range is inspired by the famous festival of lights and features eye-catching home accessories. From patterned cushions to beautiful lanterns, each item showcases India's deep-rooted traditional crafts, including edge embroidery, block printing and indigo dyeing.
Diwali – which falls on 12th November this year – is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains and symbolises the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. During the festival, living spaces are decorated with lights and small oil lamps (known as diya). Fireworks are also an essential part of the occasion, and again, lights and oil lamps are lit on the streets.
'The collection is a modern and elegant take on the traditional, drawing on inspiration from customary Indian and Scandinavian design,' say IKEA. 'The range combines an array of colourful prints and textures that will refresh the home and create a welcoming space ideal for entertaining friends and family. Both bold and functional, the AROMATISK collection will be a mainstay in the home for years to come.'
